Frances Hesselbein

Frances Hesselbein is President and CEO of The Frances Hesselbein Leadership Institute (formerly the Peter F. Drucker Foundation for Nonprofit Management). She serves on many corporate and nonprofit boards and has won numerous awards and honors, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the United States of America’s highest civilian honor in the United States. The award recognized her leadership as Chief Executive Officer of Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. from 1976-1990, as well as her role as the Founding President of the Drucker Foundation. Her contributions were also recognized by former President Bush, who appointed her to two Presidential Commissions on national and community service.

Mrs. Hesselbein is Editor-in-Chief of the quarterly journal Leader to Leader, as well as coeditor of 27 books translated into 27 languages, including her recently published autobiography, Frances Hesselbein, My Life in Leadership. Frances is the recipient of seventeen honorary doctoral degrees. Other awards include: Henry A. Rosso Medal for Lifetime Achievement in Ethical Fund Raising from the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University; International ATHENA Award; Dwight D. Eisenhower National Security Series Award for her “outstanding contributions to America’s national security”; Juliette Award from Girl Scouts of the U.S.A.; 2004 Visionary Award from the American Society of Association Executives Foundation
